I am Mawahir (Mawa), I have been in the fitness industry for the past 6 years and have coached a variety of clients throughout the years with varying fitness goals.

My background comes from being a track and field athlete and a martial artist from my school days, and later getting into lifting weights and transforming myself in 2012 to competing in Powerlifting with the Alberta Powerlifting Union (APU), an affiliate of the Canadian Powerlifting Union (CPU).

I hold certifications in Personal Training, Muscle hypertrophy, Powerlifting and nutrition, along with years of experience that accredit me to practice as a Personal Trainer/Coach.

Fitness is an amazing and empowering lifestyle decision that anyone can make. I believe in finding the pleasurable side of fitness; and while there may be a sore muscle or two along the way, the benefits of fitness is worth the discomfort. I have developed my training regime by working with a variety of people, and always love adapting my coaching to new clients.

Calories are king when it comes to weight loss. Everyone based on their sex, age, weight, activity levels have different BMR (Basal Metabolic Rates), and the caloric intake should be based off all the above factors to lose weight. Also by changing our lifestyle, making one change at a time to build lasting habits, that help to stay lean year round. Plateaus are inevitable during a fat loss phase and strategic changes need to be applied in order to keep progressing and achieving your dream physique.

In simple words muscle hypertrophy happens when you cause muscle damage and allow the muscle to recover and build itself. To support this process, smart nutrition and exercise choices need to be made. As we know the human body is really smart and adapts to literally what ever is thrown at it and at a point when one hits the genetic ceiling, muscles wont grow anymore. This is when smart training methods and nutrition need to be introduced in to the training regime to break that ceiling and keep growing.

I started training with Mawa about a 1.5 years ago, my goal being  general fitness training, then I really got interested in Powerlifting. With Mawa’s approach to training,  I found I really enjoyed the results I was getting.  This ultimately lead to me joining the IPF/CPU and training for my first powerlifting meet in 2019.
